Kuala Lumpur - Kelantan Umno has proposed the setting up of a Bumiputera development master plan to guide the implementation of government policies, particularly the New Economic Model (NEM).
Its representative, Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin the plan could also monitor and coordinate the Bumiputera Agenda in line with the implementation of the economic model.
He said the setting up of the Bumiputera Agenda Supreme Council chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in June was important in creating a successful Bumiputera trading and industrial community.
"We really hope close monitoring of the agenda to help Bumiputera in all ministries and departments, the Bumiputera's economy could be transformed into a modern and competitive economy, in line with the inclusive NEM," he said when tabling a resolution on the economy at the General Assembly here Friday.
Awang Adek, who is also Deputy Finance Minister, said the capacity and capability of Malays and Bumiputeras in professional and critical sectors and real estate ownership should be enhanced through new programmes.
