Ambon, Maluku - Six of Maluku`s 26 best dancers will perform the Tari Lenso (handkerchief dance) during an Indonesian cultural exhibition in The Hague, the Netherlands, on October 7, 2010.
The six dancers selected to perform in Holland are
Sinthya Alimudin and Anti Karim of Amanisal studio, Claudia Mattheis and Anon Luturmas of Siwalima studio, Ella Bolaman and Lia Leunuru of Teratai studion.
Sinthya Alimudin, Anti Karim, Claudia Mattheis, Anon Luturmas, Ella Bolaman, and Lia Leunuru were selected through a Tari Lenso audition conducted by the Maluku Culture and Tourism Office at the Maluku Cultural Park in Karangpanjang on Friday night.
The jury which was made up of Brury Tetelepta, Vincent, Semmy A Toisutta and Retno Hendarti also selected Stella Pattipeiluhu, Doris Matulseya, Donald Pea, and Devan Simatauw as musicians who will accompany the six best dancers to perform in the Netherlands.
Chief of Maluku Cultural Park, Semmy A Toisutta said here on Saturday that the artist team from the province would perform at the Indonesian cultural exhibition in The Hague which was also to be attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"The artist team will also perform at a luncheon to be hosted by Queen Beatrix for President Yudhoyono in The Hague on October 7, 2010," Toisutta said.
He said the artist group from Maluku would perform with two other groups from Aceh Province and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.
The artist team from Aceh would perform the Saman Dance and the NTT artist group Sasando traditional music.
According to Toisutta, the artist team from Maluku would leave for Jakarta on October 1, 2010 to train together with the groups from Aceh and NTT before proceeding to Amsterdam on October 4.
"I am grateful that the efforts of the Maluku Cultural and Tourism Office and Maluku Cultural Park have produced results," Toisutta said. (*)
