Pilot still unconscious after plane crash

Alexander Supelli, a senior pilot, remained unconscious Saturday after crashing with a Super Decathlon airplane which later burst into flames while performing an aerobatic stunt during the Bandung Air Show on Friday.

Supelli is being treated at an intensive care unit at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.

Alexander, the older brother of feminist activist and astronomer Karlina Supelli, suffers burns to 60 percent of his body, multiple trauma and a leg fracture.

The plane crashed when it was in an inverted position alongside another plane. Alexander’s plane appeared to have difficulties switching back to its upright position at 107 meters above the ground and finally fell from a height of 30 meters.
