China Travel Agents To Promote Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei's popular tourist attractions will get a publicity boost in the China market following a fruitful discussion between four visiting Chinese travel agents and Sheikh Jamaluddin Sheikh Mohamed, the CEO of Brunei Tourism, yesterday morning.

Yue Feng Yue and Yang Ren Lu of Henandahe International Travel Service proposed promoting Brunei's tourism it popular Chinese newspapers and tourism websites to raise Brunei's tourism profile in the Chinese market, which has not yet been fully tapped.

In addition, the travel agents would print Brunei's tourist attractions on brochures to be distributed to interested inbound tourists.

Sheikh Jamaluddin welcomed the initiative and vowed to support the proposal by bearing the costs of the advertisement and brochures, provided there is a formal proposal to the Brunei Tourism.

Golfing is another tourist attraction, according to Zhang Yueting of Tianjin China International trading and Travel Services.

"In the month of December, all the golf courses in China would shut down temporarily to start maintenance work on the grass of the course. I see this as an opportunity to promote Brunei as a golfing destination for Chinese people since there are beautiful golf courses in the country and these are open all year long."

Accompanying the visitors was Major (Rtd) Abd Samad Hj Abd Sani of Quagga Travel of Brunei.

Sheikh Jamaluddin advised the Chinese travel agents to first see the various tourist attractions first hand to get a feel and help promote Brunei as one of the best tourist destinations in Asean.

Here on a familiarisation trip sponsored by Brunei Tourism, the Chinese travel agents will be visiting the Water Village, Temburong's pristine forest, OGDC, Royal Regalia, Museum and other tourist attractions.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin (By James Kon)
