London -- A West Java cultural mission with 27 artists will be conducting a 10-day goodwill art mission to three major cities in Italy, namely Rome, Naples and Venice from May 17 to 26, 2010.
The cultural mission under the leadership of Bandung STSI chairman Enoh M. Hum, will be conducted under cooperation between the Indonesian embassy in Rome, the National Education Ministry, STSI in Bandung, La Sapienza University in Rome, Napoli Orientale University, Napoli dan Fondazione Cini in Venezia, Counsellor for information, social and cultural affairs of the Indonesian embassy in Rome, Musurifun Lajawa told Antara`s London correspondent Saturday.
The goodwill mission themed The Soul of West Java, Indonesian Classical and Contemporary Music and Dance, will present Sundanese art and cultural performances in the form of a combination of traditional dances and music with a touch of contemporary jazz music under collaboration with Indonesian popular musician Dwiki Dharmawan led by Krakatau Band.
In the meantime, Prof. Dr. Jacob Sumardjo, Sundanese cultural expert with the support of a number of Bandung STSI senior lecturers took part in the cultural mission, and will hold a workshop on Sundanese dances and musical instruments for secondary school and university students in each of the cities they visited in Italy.
The cultural mission has been designed to be watched by 2,500 spectators in Italy, with wide coverage of local print, digital and television media.
Besides to deepen understanding on the beauty and variety Indonesian culture, the activity is also expected to raise the number of Italian tourists coming to Indonesia.(*)
